Last month, we let you know about ideas and tips for Thanksgiving costumes, and now it’s time to talk about another favorite holiday – Christmas!
For children that love to dress up, any sort of costume can make great Christmas presents. Christmas-themed costumes are a little different, though, and if your little one is going to be part of a school or church pageant or play, you’ll need to somewhere to start. Here are a couple of our favorite Christmas costume ideas.
Angel Costumes for Kids
This angel costume, consisting of a white and gold robe with a halo and wings, is available in sizes for children of all ages, from babies and toddlers to older kids. With just a few accessories, it’s easy to make a D.I.Y. angel costume, too. This angel accessory kit includes a silver tinsel halo and a pair of white angel wings.
An angel halo on its own or a pair of white feathered angel wings can also be used. Then, you can finish your child’s angel costume look with a white top, white pants, and white sneakers. Or, use a white sheet or another piece of white fabric to make a D.I.Y. toga-style robe. Here’s a quick and easy toga tutorial we discovered that should work out perfectly.
It’s pretty easy to create a pair of D.I.Y. angel wings for kids, too. Simply cut a large piece of white foam board into the desired wing shape, and add white craft feathers if you want. If you have any old and outgrown backpacks lying around the house, the straps will make an solution for your child to wear their wings. Or, simply use two loops of sturdy cord, hot glued to your homemade angel wings in a pair of loops.
Wise Men Costumes for Kids
The three Magi, or Wise Men, are essential characters for any nativity scene or school play about the story of Christmas. These wise man costumes for kids in purple, blue, and red are perfect for the part. Each one features brightly colored robes, metallic golden accents, and a historically inspired design. To complete the look, we recommend a fake beard and wig combo. For footwear, a simple pair of plain or solid-color sandals is the way to go.
There’s even one wise man riding a stuffed camel. Might as well add a little humor into the mix, right? (Let’s face it, when it comes to kids putting on a Christmas play, there can be a fine line between wise man and wise guy.)
